Has Western civilization, USA especially, gone superdumb?

Well, we can see how much we reject serious knowledge: mindless escapist tv shows and movies, glorifying shallow life of luxury and money, rap and hip hop glorifying violence and lowlife, too much "adulation" to idiotic celebrities like Spears and others, electing bad politicians and idioloues wasting time in such idiocies like "cry over a pig in a farm" or "crying over a crocodile". Is our civilization has become so dumb? What do you think?
