Aladdin-like cartoon?

Hi, I'm having trouble finding a cartoon/movie that ran in the '90s. From what I remember, there was boy and he was searching for some sort of fruit or fountian [maybe the fountain of youth?]. I thought he had a genie or a magical lamp to help him. And I thought it was set in the middle east, but I'm not sure. It reminded me a lot of Disney's Aladdin, but it was slightly different. I thought he had some animal campanion, but I could be mistaken.The cartoon was aired on tv several times, but it wasn't a series. Can you help me?
