Neutering my cat, i have a question?

My little cat is adorable. He's always purring and sounds like a pigglet cuz he purrs so loud. He purrs away from me, with me, as soon as i touch him or give him attention he purrs loudly. He is very gentle and im very attached. He is in perfect health and is very playful. It saddens me to make him go through the operation although i dont want to repeat the same mistake i made with my female cat and waited too long. My female cat developped beautiful female traits though because of this and she is very well right now and lost all her aggressiveness. Do you think i should operate him now although he seems sooo happy? btw they get along so well him and my female cat, they are unseparable and its just too cute. Am i being blinded by the urgency of operating him early? Is it better for him trauma wise for me to do it earlier? I need advice, reuring ect Thanks so much!
