I like..feel so bad for him??what can I do?

So this guy is kinda my boyfriend (he likes me n I like him but he wont ask me out cuz hes lke scared) And tommorow is his birthday and he wanted to have a party for him at his house with all his friends and he invited my friends too, and the pool and fire works..but he just txted me this "Hey! Umm im not gaving a bday party tommorw but im having alittle bbq so you can just come bc no one else is comeing but my grandpatents." And I feel so bad for him idk why..idk what I can I do for him..? And should I still bring my friends or no..? He just wants me there..?
