Am i doing the right thing with my hair?

We have two things in common, so I was in love with purple haze it was my color for a long time, and we both have short hair (also had short hair while it was purple) The thing is keeping it purple proved to be a struggle and keeping healthy hair. I used this hair treatment packet i got from walmart but for the life of me I can't remember what its called, but I'm pretty sure it was a pink product (the product name is seriously 'pink') but me being african-american I have "black people hair" but it really helped and my mom used it as well and she does not so maybe it will help if you look around for it? it was just a square packet of liquid for like 99cents or pantine has a line of good anti-breakage stuff you might want to look at.
